Safety & Environmental

Safety

Safety is paramount at Tri City Highway Products and all employees are thoroughly trained in safety practices before heading into the field. Red Cross-certified First Aid and CPR training is required for all employees. In addition, employees who have mining responsibilities are required to complete annual Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) safety courses.

All drivers take part in extensive training, and annual 6-hour review courses, while Tri City’s trucks are fitted with computerized regulators that control the maximum allowable speed for the vehicle.

We also incorporate weekly “toolbox talks” during the construction season. These 5-minute discussions cover a specific safety topic that is relevant to the job a crew is working on at that time, such as traffic safety, avoiding heat stroke or other issues.

Environmental

A strong commitment to the environment is part of Tri City’s underlying business practices.  Trucks and heavy construction equipment are maintained in top condition to maximize fuel efficiency and ensure emissions meet all state and federal standards.

Being a supplier of mined products bears both a responsibility to comply with the mining industry standards as set forth by the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the Mining Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and a responsibility to educate our employees of potential environmental risks.
