
Description
A surveyor for heavy/highway construction is responsible for establishing and/or confirming all control points, performing topographical surveys both pre and post construction, and establishing survey control plans for GPS and LPS equipment automation. They must be able to work with Trimble GPS and robotic survey instruments as well as to assist crew forepersons and equipment operators in the use of GPS rovers and equipment automation as well as to troubleshoot issues with hardware and software. A surveyor is also responsible for the primary layout of all elements of the work to be performed including but not limited to pipe/drainage systems, structures, pavements and earthwork.
The surveyor works closely with CAD engineers in the development of 3D models for use by construction crews and in determining quantities of work performed.
A Land Surveyors License is preferred but not required.
Salary is New York State Prevailing rate.
